The Pearl Cup - Jan. 14th

It's already been Yelp'd, Urbanspoon'd, Daily Candy'd and even won Best of ___ from both D magazine and the Dallas Observer. So it may seem an obvious choice for thing to write about, but hey, I like the place. And, maybe one of you hasn't heard of it.

I like the coffee. I like that I can order a large without having to pretend to know Italian. I like the yogurt parfait for breakfast. I like that the owner comes out with water for my dogs. I like that you can people-watch for hours and see relationships begin to bloom, as they are apt to do in just such a place.

Anyhoo, I could go on and on, but I won't.  But do check out the "About Us" page on their website, it's a great story.

365 Things Dallas' Facebook page has blasted past our first goal 365 "Likes."

POP Life - Jan 13th

The Goss-Michael Foundation is showing off its new digs by showcasing the founders' best examples of the YBA movement.

Highlights from the Collection is comprised of over 25 works selected from the founders’ private collection, featuring art by Michael Craig-Martin, Tracey Emin, Angus Fairhurst, Gilbert & George, Damien Hirst, Jim Lambie, Sarah Lucas, Adam McEwen, Jonathan Monk, Tim Noble & Sue Webster, Richard Patterson, Marc Quinn, and Eva Rothschild.

Michael and Goss have assembled a collection of innovative and provocative pieces that often relate to one another through shared themes: sexuality, personal identity and societal roles; beauty, sensuality and death; as well as the social and political issues facing the current generation. It is the intention of the Goss Michael foundation to present challenging contemporary art to the public, to open up an interesting dialogue between works of art and to create a forum for the exchange of ideas in Dallas.

The exhibition runs until February 28th.

In addition, The Event Featuring PRINCE is a benefit concert for the Goss-Michael Foundation during Super Bowl weekend, Friday February 4th.  Tickets available at this link.

Rex's Seafood - Jan. 3rd

Make a New Year's resolution, did ya?  Workout more?
Loose some L.B.'s?
Treat yourself better?

I've made a few and the one I plan to stick to is - treat myself better.
Starting by returning to Rex's Seafood for some more Lobster Bisque. Or the crab cakes. Perhaps the Ahi Tuna.
A few weeks ago I was faced with a seriously tough choice - which soup did I want from Rex's and as I said, I went with the bisque, But the choices we tough.

Rex's is already known for being a great market for fresh seafood.  But now that they serve lunch and dinner it can't be beat.

And its good for you!
